The purpose of the Jacob Coy Middle School chapter will be to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in pupils of Jacob Coy Middle School. Membership to the Jacob Coy Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is determined based upon eligibility and application to the faculty. Eligible students, who apply, are selected by a faculty council based upon specific criterion. Not all students who apply will be selected. Membership to the National Junior Honor Society should be considered an honor and important responsibilty. High expectations are set for members.

Interested in joining NJHS in the future?
The application process takes place during the first few weeks of second quarter for eligible 7th and 8th graders. If you are interested in applying at that time, there are a few things you can do to prepare yourself as a strong candidate!

1. Study Hard! You are required to have and maintain a 3.7 or higher GPA.

2. Get Involved! Join a club, sport, or other organization either at school or in the community to demonstrate involvement on your application.

3. Help Others! Community service is a core component of NJHS and part of the application process. Take advantage of volunteer opportunities. Volunteer hours will begin counting towards your NJHS application during the summer before your 7th grade year.
