Students taking Mr. Cook’s American Wars elective class recently visited the National Museum of the United States Air Force in preparation for their study of World War II. Small groups of students toured the museum and learned about many famous aircraft that will be discussed in class including Bockscar, the B-29 that dropped the 2nd atomic bomb, a B-17 aircraft, and the Doolittle Raiders’ B-25. “It is a great opportunity to bring history to life.” Mr. Cook explains. “The classroom doesn’t always do history justice and today was a great day as students had the chance to witness history up close and personal.”
In addition to period aircraft, students were also able to view the museum’s Air Force One located in the in its new hangar.
