This week, for our staff spotlight, we are highlighting TY English! Ty is an Intervention Specialist and AEP Teacher at Ankeney Middle School. 🧡🖤 Ty has been with BCS for 2 years. He says the most influential person in his career is Dr. Candy McCoy, his mentor during his student teaching at Fairmont High School. She greatly supported him, and he is very grateful for her guidance. As an educator, Ty hopes his students can learn perseverance from him. "No matter what life brings, you can continue to push forward and achieve your goals." Finally, he wishes more people knew that our district strongly focuses on providing a well-rounded education for all students while providing alternative opportunities to explore their interests and talents. #BcreekSchools #BeavercreeksBest

Today was a great day for learning as we had various staff professional development going on. Our BHS teachers learned about ways to use data to inform instructional strategies. Our middle school teachers spent time collaborating to learn more about the characteristics and needs of our students and how we can better support them, and some of our elementary staff spent time learning more about emotional intelligence.

This week’s, “Beavercreek’s Best” features social studies teacher at Ankeney Middle School Shawn Cook. Continue reading to learn more about him! 🏫 NUMBER OF YEARS AT BEAVERCREEK CITY SCHOOLS: 25 years. 📰 WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB: I delivered newspapers when I was just 12-years-old. 📚 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR OR BOOK: My favorite author is Ron Chernow and reading anything about George Washington. ⛱️ WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCHOOL MEMORY FROM WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER: I’m not going to lie...summers! 🌎 FONDEST MEMORY IN YOUR CURRENT POSITION: I don't have a specific moment. I just appreciate hearing that students enjoy my class and knowing I am a small part of the reason they are becoming interested in history. 🧡 WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE OR ENCOURAGEMENT WOULD YOU SHARE WITH ALL STUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT: Don't let anyone discourage you from being you. Proudly be who you want to be, not who someone else wants you to be. Shawn, thank you for all you do! Our district is lucky to have you! #BcreekSchools
