🌟 CONGRATULATIONS to Arnab, a fourth-grade student at Fairbrook Elementary, for receiving October’s Shine Award! Arnab was nominated by the fourth-grade teaching team and they shared why they nominated him! “Arnab is the perfect example of a Fairbrook Fox and demonstrates the pillar of kindness by his willingness to always help a friend in need. He is the first one to quietly help a friend with an assignment or when they just need someone to talk to. He is a responsible PAX leader by always coming to class prepared and ready to learn and is a great example to everyone he meets. Arnab brightens everyone's day with a smile that reaches his eyes.” Way to go, Arnab! We are proud of you! 👏👏 #BcreekSchools

This week’s, “Beavercreek’s Best” features social studies teacher at Ankeney Middle School Shawn Cook. Continue reading to learn more about him! 🏫 NUMBER OF YEARS AT BEAVERCREEK CITY SCHOOLS: 25 years. 📰 WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB: I delivered newspapers when I was just 12-years-old. 📚 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR OR BOOK: My favorite author is Ron Chernow and reading anything about George Washington. ⛱️ WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCHOOL MEMORY FROM WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER: I’m not going to lie...summers! 🌎 FONDEST MEMORY IN YOUR CURRENT POSITION: I don't have a specific moment. I just appreciate hearing that students enjoy my class and knowing I am a small part of the reason they are becoming interested in history. 🧡 WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE OR ENCOURAGEMENT WOULD YOU SHARE WITH ALL STUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT: Don't let anyone discourage you from being you. Proudly be who you want to be, not who someone else wants you to be. Shawn, thank you for all you do! Our district is lucky to have you! #BcreekSchools

🏀 This basketball season, there will be a new, but a familiar face as the head coach of the Beavercreek High School Girls Basketball team. Former assistant coach, Aric Seilhamer was named the new head coach when Ed Zink retired after coaching for 46 years. Coach Seilhamer is a 1996 Beavercreek City Schools (BCS) alumnus and has taught and coached in the BCS district for 20 years. We wish the new head coach and athletes the best of luck in the upcoming season! #BcreekSchools
