All March long, Mr. Shaw's class at Shaw Elementary has been doing their own version of March Madness, but with picture books. They started off with 16 different books in eight different categories, including Biography, Sports, and SEL.
After we read both books in each category, we began voting and using a bracket to highlight our favorite books. We continued voting daily until we were down to two final books: For the Right to Learn: Malala Yousafzai's Story by Rebecca Ann Langtson-George and Escargot by Dashka Slater.
The winner was announced on the last day of school before spring break. Ultimately, the students decided that the best book was For the Right to Learn: Malala Yousafzai's Story by Rebecca Ann Langtson-George. This nonfiction biography of Malala Yousafzai, who helped fight for education for all in Pakistan, was the winner.
The students had a blast reading the different types of stories and voting for their favorites!
Shaw Elementary's Annual Science Fair was a blast! 🔍🌟 A huge shoutout to our dedicated staff and all the volunteer judges who made this day possible for our students.
Big kudos to all our participants for their hard work and impressive projects!
