Valley’s SHINE Award

Olivia Grottke

We are so excited to announce that 1st grader Olivia Grottke is Valley’s March recipient of the SHINE award for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Character Education program is a key component to helping our students understand what it means to lead and to be good citizens. Every month, we honor one student who consistently demonstrates two or more pillars of character which are: Citizenship, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Respect, and Responsibility. To recognize these students for their efforts, Beavercreek City Schools has created the “SHINE Award – Highlighting Outstanding Students of Character.”

This is how Olivia’s teacher, Mrs. Shively, describes her:

Olivia walks into the classroom each day with a smile on her face and ready to learn. She is friendly and kind to everyone and genuinely cares about treating everyone with respect and fairness. She is well-liked by all of her classmates and has many friends because of her friendliness. Olivia always does her best on all of her school work and has really grown as a reader this year because of her diligence and hard work. Her positive attitude is contagious. Even when something is hard for her, she doesn’t give up and keeps trying until she CAN do it. I can always count on her to be doing the right thing and be a good example to others. She is always willing to help me and her fellow classmates when asked and is quick to check on anyone who is upset or crying. Olivia is a joy to be around and exemplifies what it means to have great character and be a great human being.

Awesome job, Olivia!!  We are so happy for you!
